Campsite or courtside, the Cooler is still king and Pelican’s 45 Quart Elite Cooler is ready for home and the backcountry
One would think in a space where numerous portable, easy to use, 12-volt refrigerators reign, the days of the humble, ice laden cooler would be behind us. However, there are times where the adventure extends beyond the adventure rig. There are many of us who only go beyond a long weekend into the wild every once in a blue moon, making the luxury of mobile refrigeration a needless expense. Sometimes, the need isn’t only to keep what’s inside cold, but to bring what’s cold anywhere it needs to be. Campsite or courtside, the cooler is still king.
The 45-quart Elite cooler from Pelican strikes a balance between portability and ample storage. It’s large enough to accommodate food and drinks for either a quick weekend getaway, a day on the beach, or the sidelines enjoying the game, all while being easily manageable to transport.
One of the standout features of the Pelican Elite cooler is its impressive ice retention capability. Engineered with high-quality insulation materials, including a freezer-grade lid gasket. In the 100+ degree heat of Arizona’s late summer, parked on a patio, and loaded with three bags of ice, the Pelican maintained suitable internal temperatures for six days. Only draining off melt water once a day, the internal temperature of the cooler was still the mid-30’s after day six. On the afternoon of day seven, with no ice inside, the interior of the cooler was at still a comfortable 73 degrees.
The construction quality of the Elite cooler showcases the commitment to durability that has become known as the trademark Pelican standard. The rugged polypropylene design can withstand more than you’ll likely ever throw at it, making it suitable for rough handling and various outdoor environments. The latches are also robust and secure, providing a tight seal that contributes to the cooler’s impressive insulation performance. The pivoting handle and heavy-duty wheel design allows the cooler to traverse across most any terrain. If rolling isn’t an option, then the dual-handle system makes it easy for two people to carry together. Once you’ve arrived, the non-skid rubber feet on the bottom will not only prevent sliding but keep the Elite cooler roughly about 1/2” of an inch off the ground and stable. The drain plug is situated perfectly, allowing drainage without having to lift and slosh the cooler about. The drain is also equipped with a tethered cap and a threaded outlet, allowing the attachment of a garden hose if you wish to have the drainage runoff elsewhere.
Built to excellent standards, right here in the U.S.A, the Pelican Elite cooler will repay you many times over as a reliable companion for outdoor adventures, providing peace of mind that your drinks will stay cold and your food will be fresh, no matter where your journey takes you.
