MotoVermont is happy to announce that adventure journalist and coach Bill Dragoo will act as Chief instructor for their 2016 Vermont Motorcycle Training Tour July 9-12. Fran Tully of Dual Sport School and Guided Adventure Rides in Utah will co-teach, sharing a lifetime of off road and adventure travel experience.
Bill has been on the podium at the Rawhyde Adventure Rider’s Challenge two of the three times he has competed, with first and second place finishes. In 2010 Bill represented the United States as part of the three man Team USA in BMW’s GS Trophy adventure riding competition held in South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique. He has taught adventure riding skills in Bolivia and the U. S. and has ridden motorcycles on five continents. He also writes for several adventure related magazines such as ADV Moto, Adventure Rider, BNW ON, Overland Journal and Outdoor X 4.
“The best part of any adventure is sharing it,” says Bill, and he does just that through his stories and by teaching others some of the finer points of managing heavy dual sport motorcycles through challenging terrain.
Fran Tully is an adventure rider through and through. Based in Utah, Fran rides his BMW R1200 GS Adventure some 30,000 miles per year all over the U.S, Mexico and Canada. He is also the founder of Utah’s first, and only, adventure riding school.
Adventure Motorcycling – ADVMoto
“Adventure riding combines the best of long-distance motorcycle touring and dirt bike riding high up in the hills. It is an exhilarating practice that can take you to hidden spots in your own backyard or around the world” says Tully. “Half the joy of what we do is helping others learn the skills to take them as far they want to go.”
Assisting the duo will be experienced tour guide and MotoVermont owner, Eric Milano.
Now in its 4th year, the Vermont Training Tour is a unique experience where attendees are immersed in an extraordinary environment of education and exploration over some of the most exciting and remote trails in New England. Staff to student ratios are kept around 1:5 for plenty of personal attention.
Coaches will be offering tips and tricks to help riders cover challenging terrain safely and efficiently without the exertion usually associated with off pavement riding. Attendees will learn to balance and control their mounts whether riding small bore dirt bikes or massive behemoths like the BMW and KTM Adventure class machines.
Participants will move to a closed course in order to practice drills and technique before embarking upon a trail ride where their new skills will be put to use in a real world environment. Additional skills will be introduced at stages along the way. Over the 3 day period, riders will encounter rocks, mud, water crossings and an incredible display of nature over Vermont’s amazing backroads. Obstacles will be met and overcome individually and as a group under scrutiny of this expert Vermont Training Tour team.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the trip and training of a lifetime.
Orientation begins the afternoon of July 9 at Jay Peak Resort in Jay, VT. The tour ends around 1:00 p.m. on July 12. Deluxe lodging and evening meals are provided by Jay Peak Resort. Breakfast and Lunch will be served up at local hot spots in the area. Cost is $1599.00 and includes meals, lodging, training and tour.
