Can-Am Unveils New Origin Electric Adventure Motorcycle

August 10, 2022

Can-Am has announced by mid-2024 they plan to release an all-electric adventure motorcycle dubbed the Origin and have shared several images to entice adventurists everywhere with an exciting new take on off-pavement adventures.

The first Can-Am motorcycle arrived in 1973 as dirt bikes began to proliferate throughout North America, and the majority of Can-Am bikes were focused for off-pavement travel.

The Origin will feature a Rotax e-power drivetrain with single-sided swingarms, LED lighting, a sizeable dash screen, and general lightweight though no specifics have been provided as of yet. Single front disc brakes will provide moderate stopping power, and level 2 charging should accommodate “rapid charge times” per the folks at Can-Am.

Additionally, the Origin features spoked wheels and taller suspension for off-road use, with body symmetry and tires that suggest dual-sport capability. Can-Am has confirmed the Origin will not have a manual transmission or clutch.

“Today, our story of innovation reaches new heights,” says José Boisjoli, President and CEO of BRP. “We have set out to reclaim our motorcycle heritage and are very proud to re-enter the market with the introduction of the first two models of our all-electric Can-Am motorcycle family. Half a century ago, Can-Am roared to victory on the track and the trail, and today, a legacy is reborn. In true BRP fashion, we are bringing our very own electric powerpack to our motorcycles, and crafting thrilling riding experiences for a whole new generation.”

Full specs and details won’t be released until 2023 so in the meantime, we’ll have to wait patiently. You can learn more about Can-Am’s offering by visiting www.can-am.brp.com as well as the video teaser below.
