Dometic Launches Electric Water Heater

Dometic has expanded its lineup of RV appliances with the new Electric Water Heater Essential, a fully electric water heater designed to simplify RV construction while delivering dependable hot water for travelers. Powered exclusively by campground shore power, the new unit eliminates the need for propane components, helping manufacturers reduce system complexity and owners spend less time on maintenance.

The Electric Water Heater Essential is engineered to integrate seamlessly into modern electric-focused RVs. By removing propane plumbing, combustion hardware, and related components, OEMs can streamline production, reduce parts requirements, and minimize potential failure points. The simplified design also lowers the overall system complexity, making it easier to build and service RVs.

 

Installation flexibility is another key advantage. Unlike conventional water heaters that require exterior vents and access doors, Dometic’s new model mounts entirely inside the RV and does not require an exterior wall cutout. This gives manufacturers greater freedom when designing floorplans, whether for compact travel trailers or larger motorhomes, allowing them to position the water heater wherever interior space is available.

Weighing just 10 pounds, the lightweight aluminum construction also supports vehicle weight reduction while making installation and servicing easier for dealers. The durable aluminum tank resists mineral buildup and eliminates the need for a replaceable anode rod, reducing routine maintenance and helping improve long-term reliability.
