Ineos Grenadier Makes Debut

July 8, 2020

The all-new Ineos Grenadier is set to become the ultimate 4×4 vehicle

For years there has been a perception that auto manufacturers have gotten away from offering platforms that truly capture a pedigree for off-pavement travel. A myriad of standard equipment features that blur the line between luxury and practicality have become the norm, with new vehicle prices reflecting a trend that leaves consumers with the choice of taking out a second mortgage or looking for more practical options in the pre-owned market, all at the sacrifice of simplicity versus capability. Ineos Automotive is looking to buck this trend.

In early July 2020, Ineos Automotive announced its intent to offer a new breed of 4×4 vehicle dubbed the Grenadier. For those not familiar with Ineos, the company is primarily a Petrochemicals producer and was founded in 1998. Its founder, Jim Ratcliffe, formed Ineos Automotive in 2017 to develop the ultimate, utility 4×4. To date, 60 companies with competencies in the automotive realm are involved in the development of the Ineos Grenadier.

The Grenadier will rest upon a ladder frame for strength and utilize solid axles for robust travel through mud, rock, sand, snow, and anything in between. Suspension will feature coils and heavy-duty dampers in a package that’s completely free of anything electronic, allowing for ease of maintenance while presumably tackling any challenge that comes its way.

On the outside its design wasn’t specifically intended to look like any particular vehicle but there’s no mistaking an influence from Land Rover’s iconic Defender with hints of G-Wagons and Patrols of old and Jeeps of new.

More about the Ineos Grenadier will be featured in an upcoming issue of OutdoorX4 after the vehicle hits production in 2021. In the meantime, watch the build episodes below for a more comprehensive look at the all-new Ineos Grenadier.
