onX Introduces Location Sharing
April 28, 2026
onX Offroad has announced the launch of Location Sharing, a new in-app feature that lets users see their entire group’s live locations on one map in real time. Built to reduce check-ins, eliminate guesswork, and improve safety, the feature gives riders instant visibility of their crew while they move through their route.

onX Offroad users can start a session, send a link, and see their group’s position update every five seconds. If someone loses connection, the App displays their last known location and timestamp, ensuring clarity even in low signal terrain. All location data is deleted as soon as the session ends.
Key Location Sharing features include:
- Up to 10 people per session
- Live updates every 5 seconds
- Online and offline indicators
- Full user control to join, leave, or end a session
- Automatic deletion of all location data when a session ends
For Offroad groups, the feature helps leaders track everyone and gives faster riders freedom to explore without losing contact.

“Location Sharing has been one of the most requested features from our offroad community because riders are constantly balancing coordination, safety, and the reality that groups naturally spread out,” said onX Senior Product Marketing Manager, Andy Zielinski. “By creating this tool with their needs in mind, we aim to reduce the burden on group leaders and give everyone the confidence to split off, ride ahead, and still stay connected with their crew in real time.”

This feature has begun to roll out to all users and any onX Offroad membership level can start or join a session. Location Sharing currently operates in areas with cellular coverage. To help plan ahead, users can reference onX Offroad’s Cell Coverage Layer to preview connectivity along their route before heading out.
