Warn’s new AXON & VRX Winches

OutdoorX4 Magazine recently attended a media event hosted by Warn Industries where two new revolutionary winches were introduced for ATV powersports enthusiasts. Created specifically for the needs of ATV and Side X Side riders, AXON and VRX winches bring new levels of technology, durability, and performance to the powersports winch market. The Axon is a premium product, offering IB68 waterproofing, and available in capabilities ranging from 3500 to 5500 pounds. The VRX series is Warn’s entry-level ATV winch. With 2500 to 4500 pounds of winching capability, this is a premium winch without a premium price. Both AXON and VRX are available in either wire and synthetic rope.

During all-day demonstrations, we couldn’t help but be impressed by the performance of these new winches. It didn’t take long for us to observe the obvious: Axon and VRX winches have reset the bar in technology, durability, and performance in an ATV winch. Some of the demonstrations included watching the winch perform while underwater. The IP68 waterproofing standard is the highest in the industry and Warn is the only winch which offers this performance level. While the IP68 waterproofness has always been available in the Warn Zeon series of truck winches, Warn is now offering this superior standard in their AXON ATV series of winches. In one test, a winch was underwater for several hours and continued to perform normally. In another test, an ATV was completely underwater, and demonstrators used the winch to extricate the ATV from the middle of a river. This is definitely a capability to look for if you plan on using your ATV or side-by-side in extreme wet conditions. Another test was watching an AXON 5500-pound winch pull a super-duty truck up an incline. More impressive in this test was that the truck weight greatly exceeded the rated capacity of the winch. With proper rigging, the Axon had no trouble pulling the truck up the hill.

 

After a day of AXON and VRX winch capability demonstrations, we were given a tour of the Warn Industries factory. The opportunity to tour the factory where they manufacture and assemble both ATV winches and truck winches was too good to pass up. The Warn factory is an impressive place. Many of the parts are manufactured right in the factory including the metal winch gears which are made directly from raw steel. Every ATV or truck winch is assembled by hand. Even the Warn bumpers are welded and ground by hand…one at a time. With that, the staff and factory workers are what make the difference in this company. Their high level of workmanship and passion for the company is reflected in the quality product that they make in the factory every day. 

 

Having used Warn winches for several years, we didn’t need much convincing that Warn makes a quality product. The demonstrations and tour provided insight into an impressive new line of Warn winches. With new features and revolutionary technology, this line of AXON and VRX winches have again set the industry standard in ATV winches.
