The scourge of every child on Christmas day was opening that fantastic new toy under the tree and reading those dreaded words printed in white letters the size of a flea. Well, we’ve grown a bit since those days, and so have our toys; but no matter where we go or what we’re doing, electricity is usually required and so the battery has been a necessary evil along the way. A battery can make or break your adventure. For decades, they have been heavy, unreliable, fickle, possessed, or all the above.

Times change. Battery technology has advanced exponentially since we were jamming countless nine volts into our R/C cars. The advent of the Lithium-Ion battery changed the game when it came to rechargeable power and advancements are still being made today.

Battleborn utilizes Lithium Iron Phosphate, more commonly known as LiFePO4, in their lineup. Setting a new standard for performance, reliability, and longevity in the world of deep cycle power. I chose the 100Ah 12V Deep Cycle battery (BB10012) as a direct replacement to the standard battery in my camper after two separate multi-day excursions, it delivered on all fronts. Making an upgrade to LiFePO4 an easy choice for various applications, including RV, marine and off-grid systems.

With LiFePO4, longevity is unparalleled. With a lifespan of 3,000 to 5,000 cycles, it far outperforms traditional lead-acid batteries. Providing years of dependable service reduces the need for frequent replacements and saves money in the long run. Money that can be used to fill the gas tank.

The key highlight of the Battleborn battery is performance. During both trips, it consistently provided stable and reliable power output. The battery’s capacity to deliver 100Ah at a constant 12V met the power needs of every application I had with ease. Additionally, it can be discharged up to 100% without any damage, unlike lead-acid batteries, which can only be safely discharged to about 50%.

Another significant advantage of the Battleborn LiFePO4 battery is its light weight. Weighing just at 31lbs, it is considerably lighter than its lead-acid counterparts, making it easier to handle and install. Battleborn also incorporates an internal Battery Management System (BMS) that protects against common issues such as overcharging, over-discharging, and short circuits. Enhancing safety but also contributing to overall durability and reliability. Backed with Battleborn’s impressive 10-year warranty, reflecting the company’s confidence in its product, commitment to quality and customer service.

What I like:

  • Reliable power and cycle life
  • Lightweight, which is a big plus for tongue weight savings on a camper or trailer
  • Incredible customer service and technical support. Thanks Roni! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What I Don’t Like:

  • Stainless steel hardware and nylon locking nuts. It’s better for corrosion resistance, but remember your anti-seize on those threads, or you’re going to have a very bad day
