Lucky 8 Offroad’s 2020 Land Rover Defender is built for adventure

Two years ago, Land Rover announced their intention to bring back the Defender to a global market, generating a level of excitement for the brand in advance of the Defender’s unveil earlier this year. For Lucky 8 Offroad, the authoritative resource for Land Rover products and based in New York state, the Defender presented a new platform to build out and showcase the next generation of a highly capable and functional overland platform.

“We wanted to highlight how comfortable and capable the new Defender is while still maintaining an OEM look to the truck. In doing this, our goal was to prove the new Defender earns its badging by maximizing its capability and functionality both on-pavement and offroad,” said Justin Monnin, owner of Lucky 8 Offroad.

The build started with a P400 inline 6-cylinder that came straight from the factory with rear diff-lock and the all new advanced terrain response 2 system. Lucky 8 then added a personal touch to include the following:

  • 35x12x18 Atturo MT Tires
  • Tuff Ant 18″ wheels
  • Lucky 8 rear caliper conversion
  • Proud Rhino 2″ lift rods
  • Proud Rhino rock sliders
  • Land Rover fender flare kit
  • Proud Rhino hidden winch tray kit
  • Factor 55 fairlead w/ultra hook
  • Land Rover snorkel
  • Proud Rhino rear ladder
  • Proud Rhino light bar with 4 Baja design Lp9 lights
  • Land Rover roof rack
  • Proud Rhino Tred Pro mounts
  • Tred Pro recovery boards in Lucky8 gray orange
  • Proud Rhino Shovel mount with Krazy Beaver shovel
  • Proud Rhino Hi-lift mount with Hi-lift
  • Lucky8 jerry can holder
  • 2 Wavin black  jerry cans
  • Switchpod for controlling lights etc.

Justin eventually plans to include interior storage, fridge, and other accoutrements with the end goal of maintaining the OEM look while maximizing the Defender’s platform as a truly competent adventurer. As it is, the Lucky 8 Offroad Land Rover Defender is a stunning truck and we look forward to featuring more about it on the OutdoorX4 website and in a future issue of OutdoorX4 Magazine.
