Dobinsons Drawers are robust and built for the long haul

Last spring I installed Dobinsons’ Drawer System in my 200 Series Land Cruiser. I knew the 200 Series’ cavernous rear cargo area would accommodate the drawers well, and anticipated they would help organize gear, keep it safe, and secure heavy gear in the unlikely event of an accident.

The drawers came assembled with the exception of the wings. In some ways this made installation easier, but they are very heavy so it is not a job one could do alone easily. The drawers have ample space for a sleeping bag, tent, stove, recovery gear, lantern, day pack, first aid kit, hammock, and propane canisters. While there is also plenty of room over the drawers for more gear, like my food tote and large gear bag, there is still room to see out the rear window. I also appreciated the security the Dobinsons drawers provide. To float certain sections of rivers, I had to leave the Land Cruiser at access points that have a reputation for break-ins, so the fact that the drawers provided lockable storage offered great peace of mind while I was on the river.

On my first camping trip after installation, I discovered a drawback: They do not lock out when extended, which made camping on hilly terrain challenging.

Once home after my trips, the heavy-duty marine carpeting – which covers both the inside and outside of the drawers – was easy to clean.

Overall, these drawers are well-engineered and solidly-built. They offer a great solution for gear organization and safety.
