Livsn Designs offers quality adventure clothing that’s perfect for your various outdoors adventure

I discovered the poorly kept secret that is Livsn Designs at a 2022 event in the Ozarks, not far from their headquarters in Bentonville, AR. After trying on a pair of the Flex Canvas Pants (reviewed in issue 48) I was an immediate fan. I wore them home and every day for the next week, my wife eventually telling me I had to buy a second pair in a different color. I did…and a pair of shorts.

Livsn, short for the Swedish word “Livsnjutare”, meaning “one who loves life deeply”, is exactly what these clothes aim to help you do. Owner, Andrew Gibbs-Dabney has been manufacturing clothes since 2018, with a stated goal of hedonistic sustainability. This plays out in his use of natural and recycled materials, sturdy hardware and top-end construction details like: double bar tacks at stress points, flat felled seams, heritage zig-zag stitching, full mesh lining, mechanical articulation, zipper side vents, a touch of stretch materials to add to the longevity and drawstring cuffs.

The Livsn clothing line is designed to encourage spending more time outdoors, and they do that by creating and improving products that fit and feel great. Their clothing provides the minimalist functionality that allows you to wear them at the trailhead, on the town, or splitting firewood. Pockets and features, that in other clothing lines might add bulk, allow for a very tailored fit.

In speaking with Andrew, I learned his desire is for Livsn customers to appreciate the durability of his designs beyond the fit and function. He hopes the thoughtfulness in the material sourcing, design details and durability will generate an emotional connection to the clothing that makes you want to wear them more often because they add value to your life. This, in turn, will allow you to own less and enjoy the important things more. Sounds like a good philosophy to me!

The CENTURY JACKET $299 (Currently on sale as of 11/14/2025):
After owning the aforementioned Flex Canvas Pants and following the company social media, I looked forward to testing the Century Jacket, a four-season jacket built to last an astonishing 100 years. An incredible success on Kickstarter; the jacket was funded in ten minutes! But a century is a long time; is this jacket capable to being worn by my great grand kids? The jacket does come with a lifetime warranty and free repairs.

As I slipped into the jacket for the first time, I pictured author Eric Newby as he was getting kitted out and setting off on his walk in the Hindu Kush. The jacket is all at once luxurious and understated, equal parts fashion and function. The feel is an edgy field coat with subtle vintage moto-styling. But that is not all, it is water, wind, fire and abrasion resistant.

The exterior shell of the jacket is made with Ventile cotton, an almost waterproof organic material developed by British Intelligence and used in flight suits to keep WWII pilots warm and dry. It is almost mythically attributed to saving the lives of countless RAF pilots and has a wonderfully comfortable hand that belies its durability and functionality. Early explorers wore Ventile summiting Himalayan peaks and traversing the Arctic.

But Livsn doesn’t stop with this unique outer shell. They go further in making the jacket truly four seasons by sandwiching lightweight wool inside a 100-percent silk liner, providing odor resistance and moisture management. It has all the style and features of early Burberry adventure coats with the modern functionality of a synthetic adventure shell. The jacket has plenty of zippered pockets to store an EDC knife, keys, wallet, note pad and pen, warm hat, phone and sunglasses.

The Century Jacket is the first coat I grab for date night or driving my Land Cruiser on afternoon errands. It meets all my needs for style, durability and function. I feel better when I am wearing it out with my friends or on a date with my wife. Andrew’s goal seems to be working on me.

FORAGER JACKET $199:
The Forager jacket is made from the same soft, stretchy material as the Flex Canvas pants and an easy choice when I am splitting wood, walking our dogs or working in the garage (but much too nice for oil changes or other under the hood projects). Think mid-weight work shirt or the coat you slip on to get another armful of wood for the fireplace. The styling is subtle and includes: nine mostly hidden pockets, articulated elbows for getting the job done without pulling in the shoulders, and solid hardware.

The back pass-thru pocket is great for a map or dog leash, while the inside pockets typically hold my knit cap and neck gaiter, and the small chest pocket is great for whatever you normally keep there.

I like wearing this jacket with a hoodie or sweater layer underneath when the temperatures drop; but it works well on its own during milder weather. It is taking on the softer feel of the Flex Canvas Pants as I continue to wear it.

KARST PANTS $199:
These pants are adventure ready. If you spend any time bushwhacking or boulder scrambling like I do, you will love these tough, durable nylon stretch heavy-duty pants. Although this nylon weave is heavier than the Livsn Ecotrek Trail Pants, they have an airy weave allowing them to tackle abrasive surfaces but also breath and keep you cool during heavy exertion. I was pleasantly surprised by how cool they were given the heavier fabric.

With a tailored fit and articulated knees similar to the lighter weight Flex Canvas pants, they shrug off thorns and briers with ease. Because they are nylon, they dry fast and the side vents further assist in dumping heat and moisture as you work your way into canyons and arroyos or up thickly covered ravines. A drawstring ankle closure allows you to make a snug fit around boot tops or hiking shoes and the top entry zippered thigh pockets are functional and stylish. They look more like adventure slacks than cargo pants.

I will be wearing these pants this spring when we spend long days exploring the rugged canyons of western Oklahoma and green and rocky hills of the Ozark and Ouchitas. Thanks to their durability, these pants will probably save me money in the long run.

REFLEX PANTS $97 (Currently on sale as of 11/14/2025):
Made from a lightweight stretchy fabric, these pants represent the greatest departure from the previous line of Livsn clothing. They are a great choice when you want to work up a sweat or relax on the patio. Whether you’re climbing a 14er or drinking morning coffee, these active/leisurewear pants will be your go-to on the weekend.

The fabric is recycled polyester and polyester double weave with a nylon/spandex waistband and gusseted crotch. This combination creates a four-way stretch that also shrugs off snags almost, but not quite as easily as the Karst pants.

The Reflex fabric was developed as an activewear option with abrasion resistance and a more athletic fit. The tapered ankle with zipper and button closure is designed to fit snugly over hiking boots or tennis shoes. I have found the pants comfortable and flexible enough to ride my mountain bike or play a pickup game of basketball. They are a stylish and technical step up from your sweatpants or joggers.

I find myself wearing one or more of these items almost daily. The new line of clothing is a pleasure to wear and I look forward to the new colors and fabrics that will be featured in their catalog in the coming months and years.
