ReLiON Battery’s Outlaw 1072s portable lithium battery meets the demands for powering your gear in a convenient package that’s rugged and simple

On demand. We live in a world where we can have pretty much everything at our fingertips, from entertainment, communication, to fast food on our doorstep. It wasn’t all that long ago where these things required some level of effort to attain. Now that everything is so accessible, it makes “unplugging” all that much more satisfying. However, while going out into the bush with a sharp knife and a canteen may be the ideal adventure for some, it’s far from the norm and outside of the skillsets of many.

Once up on a time the concept of electricity at camp was a far-fetched dream. Unless you were at an established campground with power hookups or had a gas generator that was as equally hungry as it was heavy, you were operating off nothing but manpower and firelight. Apart from small battery powered devices like flashlights and radios; or implements of the 12-volt variety, electricity was a luxury of civilization that you had little option but to do without.

Those days are behind us. Electrical power is now efficient, readily available, and portable. The Outlaw 1072s power station from RELiON proves that in a conveniently designed package. Weighing in at just under 32 pounds, the Outlaw can be relocated easily to any campsite or anywhere it’s needed.

Powered by a LiFePO4 battery, the Outlaw provides the solution for everyday electrical needs wherever they may arise.

There’s nothing worse than a jumble of wires and cables. The ergonomics and design of the unit are simple and effective, with a large “lunchbox” handle on the top to allow for ease of carry, and the outputs situated on opposite sides of the unit to provide for tangle free and properly arranged connections.

The electrical supply capabilities of the Outlaw are well thought out, featuring an array of DC options:
A 14.6V/10A DC/PV input, a 12V/10A Automotive “cigarette lighter” port, two 12V/7A barrel ports, and a 30A quick charger port. The USB options are extensive, with 5V-6V,6V-9V,9V-12V Type-C PD, 5V/2.1A USB-1/USB-2SC, USB-3 DC, 5V-6V/3A, 6V-9V/2A and Quick Charge 3.0 availabilities.

For alternating current, the Outlaw has two 110V/9.09A outlets, providing a continuous 1000 watts with 2000 watt surge peak, supplied by a pure sine wave inverter.

The Outlaw met every reasonable demand asked of it on multiple trips over the last several months. From charging and maintaining mobile devices, laptop computers, a toaster, a coffee machine, and running a small 12” box fan for nights on end. Recharging is easy using either the provided charger, or a 160-watt solar panel if you have one available. With a 3500+ lifecycle rating, the Outlaw will be there when you need it.

The only complaint I have, (and it’s a weird one), about the unit is the cooling fans on the inverter. They are noisy. At night, the sound of the cooling fans overpowered the sound of the 12” box fan. While this is no means a detriment to the Outlaw or it’s design, it is something to be considered if you’re a light sleeper and intend to use it to power a device throughout the night, such as an electric blanket or small heater.

Overall, in the ever expanding world of portable power devices available, the Outlaw 1072s meets the demand in a convenient package that is easy to move, operate, and maintain. It has a permanent place on my pack-out checklist and deserves an opportunity to be considered for yours.
