Leatherman’s multi-tool and pocket knife offerings when in the backcountry for outdoors adventure
I find myself in the mountains of Wyoming, hungry and ready for a snack. A Honey Crisp apple satisfies the need and I grab Leatherman’s new T4 multi-tool and the K2 knife, cutting each slice with ease.
With so much gear available these days, it’s hard to know what to purchase to maximize adventuring in the great outdoors. Lucky for us, many manufacturers design and engineer solid, high-quality gear to last a lifetime. Based in Portland, Oregon and founded in 1983, Leatherman has produced multi-tools and knives to make adventuring outdoors easier. Whether it’s opening a bottle of your favorite IPA or tightening a loose hose clamp, Leatherman has the tool or knife to do what needs to be done.
I purchase top quality gear when my budget allows. Why would I want to buy things twice? One and done is my motto and experience has proven that Leatherman products are a one-time purchase. I got my hands on the new Free T4 multi-tool and the Free K2 knife just before I meandered into Wyoming to do a little “trout hunting.” So, it was easy to choose Leatherman but difficult to decide among Leatherman’s many options. The T4 multi-tool and K2 knife fit the bill.
The Leatherman T4, which comes in six color choices, is part of Leatherman’s Free line, which features magnetic opening and closing for easy use. This T4 remains in the back of my vehicle, where I can easily access it The Lunar color grabbed my daughter’s attention, and she carries it in her daypack for hikes and outings. The pocket clip allows her to clip it into her pack pocket. With a 25-year warranty, I am not worried about quality but do appreciate a company standing behind their product.
The K2 knife goes with me on all of my outdoor adventures. I stow it in my daypack for hikes and bring it along on my canyoneering adventures. The knife is also part of Leatherman’s Free line so the magnetic opening and closing is smooth and convenient. The screwdriver and other six features are functional, but the three-inch stainless steel blade is fantastic. The apple didn’t stand a chance! The K2 knife comes in four distinct color schemes.
Adventuring in the outdoors is a central part in my life. Purchasing and using high-quality equipment is important in making the adventure more fun and less stressful. It’s better to use the right tool for any job at hand. Before your next adventure in the outdoors, make sure you have a Leatherman with you. Surprises will occur. But, no worries…you’re equipped!
