New Summit Camp Topper for Jeep Gladiator by AT Overland provides excellent functionality for vehicle-based and overland adventures

OutdoorX4 Magazine is excited to announce AT Overland has released the Summit truck topper for the new Jeep Gladiator. It’s the first enclosed camping solution for this popular 4WD platform. With a base weight of only 350 pounds, there’s no other lightweight solution that matches the durability and ruggedness of this off-road capable aluminum topper.

The Jeep Gladiator has a GVWR of 5,800 to 6,250 pounds depending upon the trim package selected from the factory. This leaves 730 to 1,250 pounds of available payload making the Summit an excellent mobile shelter solution for the vehicle dependent adventurer. The Summit can be raised with 100 lbs. of cargo on the roof and when closed can support 600 lbs evenly distributed weight, making it an ideal photography platform or a stage for setting several chairs while relaxing at basecamp to look up and enjoy the stars.

Constructed of thick 0.60-inch CNC formed aluminum and insulated with 1-inch thick honeycomb composite panels, the Gladiator Summit is both durable and well-insulated. Aluminum plating is added in strategic locations throughout the camper to add additional strength while the honeycomb interior is covered with indoor-outdoor carpeting to eliminate condensation. Built by overlanders for overlanders who understand the rigors of backcountry travel on a global level, the box beam and honeycomb construction is unique in the industry and ensures that the Summit delivers durability and reliability.

The Summit topper sleeps two and offers the longest cab-over length of any wedge topper in the market. The length allows for a hinged bed with its bedding in place to drop down from the ceiling when needed, freeing up the living space for when the bed isn’t being used. With the bed deployed there is enough interior room to stand while another person is in the bed.

The pop-top tent of the Summit is made of a fire retardant UV resistant and FMVSS compliant  fabric by Sunbrella that is designed for 24/7 exposure. The tent has 3 “snag-proof” mosquito net screened windows with clear vinyl and privacy covers to bring in or block out light and provide excellent ventilation. An optional Thinsulate tent liner is available for the four season adventurer. This thoughtful combination of materials makes the Summit a comfortable space, whatever the weather.

The Summit has a 3-inch gap between the cab-over and top of the Gladiator to facilitate the removal of the Gladiator’s Freedom top panels for those who wish to drive “topless,”. Additionally, the gap provides enough room for the installation of a conveniently placed Eezi-Awn K-9 steel camp table.

A multitude of options are available for the Gladiator Summit including windows, hatches, tent insulation, 12 volt power and USB ports, lighting, roof racks, solar panels, vehicle-recovery board mounting and fully customized interiors. The list price of the Gladiator Summit is $9,100 base with a current lead time of approximately eight weeks.

The Jeep Gladiator Summit first public showing will make its debut in the AT Overland booth at the Overland Expo East, October 11-13, at Infinity Downs in Arrington, Virginia. OutdoorX4 Magazine will also have a Summit on a first-gen Toyota Tacoma in our booth at Overland Expo so be sure to stop by and check out both vehicles.
