Radius Outfitters offers high quality products to help enhance your vehicle-based adventure experience

Do you know the secret to overlanding? Do you know the secret to having more fun while adventuring outside? Do you know the secret which makes camping less painful and more enjoyable? The answer is simple. The execution is definitely more difficult. Drumroll please…the answer is organization! Yep, one word. One important and hard to achieve concept. Organizing makes vehicle-based adventure travel a more fun and rewarding experience–that’s a fact!

Radius Outfitters, based in Monterey, California, offers an extensive line up of products that help the adventurer get organized. Let’s face it. We have all experienced an interior of a vehicle with stuff everywhere. Items are misplaced and hard to find. When that happens, camping and adventuring becomes frustrating and not fun. Organized with the ability to find a necessary camera lens for a sunset shot, or a lighter to ignite the stove to prepare dinner, is essential to enjoying the great outdoors. The good news is there are many “right” solutions to organization. The better news is Radius Outfitters provides much needed organizational solutions and equipment.

I had the privilege to use and experience three of Radius’ organizers including the Gear Box 3500, Gear Tote, and Tool Roll. The wilds of Utah have served as the testing grounds throughout the year and my 200 Series Land Cruiser, Abbey, as the adventure vehicle.

Gear Box 3500

This gear box measures 25” x 17” and is a little over 7” tall, and is constructed of 1680D Cordura as well as leather handles and a mixture of nylon and poly. Once I received the box, which was exceptionally packaged, I put the Gear Box 3500 together with the included poly corners and the industrial strength Velcro. The finished product is a clean, high-quality organizational box. Dividers can be used to separate the larger box into smaller compartments. I use the box to store everything: camera lenses, emergency beacon, binoculars, and emergency jump starter to name a few. The low profile makes it easy to slide and stow in numerous places inside the vehicle. The industrial strength Velcro on the bottom of the gear box holds it in place atop my drawer system. There are numerous ways to segment the box with the provided dividers. Overall, the gear box provides storage and security for many small, miscellaneous items all in one place!

Gear Tote (Size Large)

When I first opened the Gear Tote from the packaging, I realized immediately that this tote bag was unique. The bottom of the tote is rigid and solid. At first, I was skeptical but after using it for jackets, a beach bag, and carrying groceries, I am sold. Brilliant! The rigid bottom slides flawlessly across the top of my carpeted, rear drawers. The exterior of the tote is constructed of high-quality cotton canvas. Not only is it high quality, but also aesthetically pleasing. I get numerous compliments and questions every time I use it. The high quality and unique design make this a long-lasting, go-to bag that’s versatile for at home and in the backcountry and in the winter months, will carry my ski boots and ski apparel.

Tool Roll

We all carry tools (or we should) in our vehicles to help fix broken parts or pieces of equipment. The multitool is one thing, but I need to carry a set of wrenches, sockets, screw drivers, pliers, etc. Carrying a tool roll with a set of essential tools is just that, essential. The Radius Outfitters tool roll is well-thought out and offers many places to store and protect my tools. The bag is made of high quality 1680D Cordura with a PVC inner. The construction is top notch and simultaneously stylish. The roll comes with numerous places to store wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers as well as includes several built-in compartments to store sockets, zip ties, and other miscellaneous items. Once unrolled the tool roll easily displays all the tools and gadgets within it. This tool roll serves as my one piece of equipment that can carry the tools I need when a breakdown occurs in the backcountry.

Vehicle-based adventure travel is a hoot! Adventures await. However, don’t throw everything in the vehicle and go. Spend time organizing your goods and equipment before hitting the road. Once in the wilds of Utah, the mountains of Colorado, or the deserts of Arizona, you will be thankful. Organization is an ongoing “battle” for me, but the gear from Radius Outfitters makes it possible and easier. Get organized, get out there!
