BDS Suspension’s Project Fire Command Bronco is a reimagined Ford Bronco built for adventure and fire support

If you’re like me, a vehicle that’s not only rad to look at but also 100% functional really captures my eye. Such is the case with the Project Fire Command Bronco from BDS Suspension.

Ready at a moment’s notice, this backwoods fire/rescue-themed Bronco is ultra-capable. The truck is designed to rush the fire chief or rescue lead ahead of heavier equipment to assess each situation and build a tactical plan of attack for the team. Bronco Fire Command is a one-of-a-kind truck that recalls the “half cab” early Broncos used by many rural fire departments decades ago, and is equipped with the right gear.

Based on a 2021 Ford Bronco 2Dr (Black Diamond Edition) in race red paint color with 2.3L Engine mated to a 7-speed manual transmission, the Bronco Fire Command gets the job done thanks to suspension upgrades with oversized wheels and tires, dual winches, state of the art comms, emergency lighting, first aid, tools and more. The suspension consists of FOX Performance Elite fully adjustable coilovers with DSC and BDS high-clearance tubular control arms. Together, these simple bolt on suspension mods can tackle any terrain from street to extreme. Finishing off the unique half-top conversion is a bottom-hinged drop tailgate that replaces the stock side-hinged design.

In building the Project Fire Command Bronco, the team at BDS took a factory-fresh Bronco…and immediately disassembled it. They then proceeded to cut up the roof and re-engineer the roll cage structure. The Bronco’s unique configuration showcases BDS Engineering’s advanced vehicle development capabilities, with Ford playing an integral hand in the overall design. The entire project team is exceedingly proud of the outcome and they should be. While it’s a one-off truck, the end result is a Bronco not only built for adventure but more importantly, built to provide support when and where its needed.
