Exotac is a family-owned company who produces unique fire starters in-house at their Georgia production center. The nanoSpark claims to be the smallest self contained fire starter. Exotac titanLight

A lighter is a lighter, right? The two most relied on styles have massive shortcomings that any true gearhead will not settle for.

First, the standard gas station Bic and its plastic body isn’t necessarily designed for durability. A small drop onto a rock or pavement and the liquid fluid will seep from any small crack, rendering useless. OR more commonly the valve button gets held down, unintentionally releasing the fuel.

While the classic Zippo has been a standard piece of EDC since 1932, the classic design has a long running inherent weakness. Since the wick isn’t sealed, the fuel can evaporate over time. Not the best option for anyone who will be stashing this in a vehicle (heat will speed the process) or with other gear that may not get used routinely.

The new titanLight from Exotac feels like a solid next step beyond the tried and true Zippo. The titanSpark is built around sturdy aluminum design with sealed cap and fuel compartment, making this lighter practically indestructible. Those sealed compartments combine with all other features that have been a standard for Zippo’s, including a flint wheel, flame guard, and replaceable flint.

The ‘quickTHREAD’ cap is removed after about 340 degrees of rotation. It is incredibly quick and easy to twist off and light up. Additionally, o-rings allow this lighter to be waterproof up to 1 meter.  The cap is not connected to the body, which may allow it to be dropped or lost, the only small downside.
