Nissan Ultimate TITAN

For the last few years, Nissan USA began a campaign entitled Calling All Titans with a focus on using the brand’s venerable TITAN truck platform as a building block to tell a story. For 2019, the campaign channeled its focus on building an Ultimate TITAN. The purpose? To provide support for an immersive experience for young people funded by the National Park Foundation in conjunction with Grand Canyon National Park and the Grand Canyon Conservancy.

This purpose-built TITAN PRO-4X crew cab will be used to assist the Grand Canyon Conservancy’s program dubbed the Canyon Field School, a focus-driven program designed to offer unique opportunities and experiences for youth to experience the great outdoors within the Grand Canyon National Park boundaries through trail repair work and park infrastructure.

“Nissan is proud to support the outstanding work being performed, trail-by-trail, campsite-by-campsite, by partners like the National Park Foundation, Grand Canyon Conservancy and Arizona Conservation Corps,” said Tiago Castro, director, Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc. “This custom-built TITAN XD 4×4 and trailer should help make their important work in remote areas of the park a little easier, safer and hopefully even a little more comfortable.”

The truck itself was built to meet the demands of this initiative and began with extending the frame by nearly three feet to accommodate the myriad of enhancements and modifications required for the program. Under the vehicle, an ICON Vehicle Dynamics 3″ suspension lift kit with Hellwig Air Suspension provides an exceptional and durable ride to tackle the varying terrain within the park. Additional enhancements include:

  • AMP Bedsteps
  • CM Truck Beds custom service body
  • Method 701 Trail Series wheels
  • Warn Industries ZEON Platinum 12-S Winch
  • Factor 55 UltraHook and Rope Guard
  • Baja Designs worksite lighting
  • Nitto Trail Grappler 35″ Tires
  • Miller welder/generator/compressor
  • Rotopax fuel containers
  • Rhino-Rack Pioneer Roof Rack
  • EGR Fender Flares
  • Weathertech Floor Mats
  • Addictive Desert Designs HoneyBadger Bumper
  • Black Series Camper custom off-road trailer
  • CargoGlide bedslide
  • Leitner Designs bed rack
  • Rhino-Rack Batwing awning
  • CVT Hardshell roof top tent
  • Custom wrap

The truck features a 2,990lb payload and towing capacity of up to 11,680lbs. It’s an incredible work truck that will undoubtedly provide a hugely invaluable service to the Grand Canyon Conservancy and the park’s new Canyon Field School and if you had an opportunity to attend Overland Expo in May, the truck was on display at the Nissan booth. OutdoorX4 looks forward to seeing the truck in use at the Grand Canyon, and we’ll keep you posted on future initiatives powered by Nissan USA.
